Vilanova del Camí approves an innovative budget for 2025

A budget with a vision for the future

In an extraordinary session held this Wednesday, the Vilanova del Camí City Council gave the green light to its budget for 2025, which exceeds 16.5 million euros for the first time. The councilor for Economy and Finance, Jordi Barón, emphatically defended the budget’s orientation towards sustainability and efficiency, as well as its commitment to the well-being of the community.

Key investments for sustainability

Of the more than 16 million euros approved, 3.5 million will be allocated to investments that seek to improve local infrastructures with a special focus on sustainability. One of the outstanding initiatives is the Sectorial Plan for Ecological Transition, which will have a budget of 1.2 million euros, and which includes the installation of solar panels on municipal buildings, with a subsidy of 900,000 euros provided by the Barcelona Provincial Council.

Featured projects

Among the planned investments are the second phase of remodeling the football field’s changing rooms, with a budget of 230,000 euros, and the first phase of the new police station, which will have a budget of 150,000 euros. In addition, an improvement in the lighting in the industrial estates has been planned, with a total investment of 160,000 euros, of which 130,000 euros will be financed by the Provincial Council.

Opposition reactions

FEM Vilanova, through its spokesperson Judit Gómez, expressed constructive support for the budget, highlighting the improvements that her group had managed to include in previous budgets, such as increasing security with the incorporation of new police officers and the implementation of participatory projects. Gómez stressed the importance of ensuring that the agreed commitments are fulfilled by the government.

V365 Requests

For her part, V365 spokesperson Vanesa González opted to abstain, expressing the need for greater attention to public safety. González highlighted that the installation of video surveillance cameras is a positive step, but urged the government to extend these measures to other areas of the city. She also expressed concern about the lack of response to proposals such as the improvement of the courtyard of the Civic Center in the La Pau neighborhood.

Proposals for family well-being

In addition, González suggested the reactivation of aid for families with minor children, to help ease the burden of educational expenses. The spokeswoman concluded that subsidies for small entities should also be reviewed to ensure adequate support for local initiatives.

A look towards tomorrow

With this budget, Vilanova del Camí positions itself as a municipality that seeks to integrate sustainability and efficiency into its governance model, while maintaining an active dialogue with opposition forces. The effective implementation of these investments and proposals will be key to improving the quality of life of its inhabitants and facing the challenges of the future.
