Visions of the Future: The Pallaresos and their ambitions for 2025

A year of transition and preparation

The mayor of Els Pallaresos, Jordi Sans, reflects on the past year and the goals of the council in an interview with DiariTots21. After a year of transition, 2024 has been marked by continuity, with the aim of preparing for a promising 2025 and 2026.

Priorities and investments for this year

The City Council has achieved a significant increase in contributions from higher institutions, such as the Regional Council and the Provincial Council, which have enabled an increase in the PUOiS, doubling its initial investment. This has allowed the council to allocate 900,000 euros to necessary projects, including a subsidy for the Roman aqueduct.

Featured investment projects

One of the priorities is the improvement of the multipurpose room, which has required an investment of 130,000 euros, with a subsidy of 100,000 euros from the Provincial Council. This investment seeks to solve air conditioning problems and guarantee an adequate space for activities throughout the year.

Improvements to the municipal swimming pool

After identifying losses and leaks, it was decided to reduce the volume of the pool and make improvements to the children’s area, with the aim of creating a water play area suitable for the little ones.

Infrastructure and security projects

One of the key initiatives is the installation of a smart traffic light that will improve traffic flow in and out of the municipality. In addition, license plate reading cameras will be introduced to strengthen security.

Maintenance and improvement of public space

An investment in street maintenance is planned, focused on repairing critical points, such as a dangerous pothole on the Mas del Frare road. The City Council seeks to make significant improvements without major investments.

Culture and heritage: Values to be preserved

Els Pallaresos has a rich cultural heritage, such as the Roman aqueduct, which is being restored and turned into a museum. The total investment for this project is 480,000 euros, with subsidies helping to make these improvements a reality.

Promoting cultural activity

The council also seeks to promote local culture with the Modernist Days, which have grown in popularity. A gastronomic session is planned to pay tribute to local gastronome Ramon Salvadó, a reference in cuisine that marked an era.

A look into the future

With a municipal budget of 4.5 million euros for this year, the City Council seeks sustainable growth and a better quality of life for its citizens. The current library, considered small, will be moved to a new, larger space, with the aim of satisfying the cultural demand of the municipality.

Commitment to youth

A new space for young people is being prepared to offer activities and resources to the youth population, with dedicated monitors to encourage their involvement and self-management.

With a positive approach, Mayor Sans highlights the importance of collaboration between different administrations to ensure the necessary funding to implement these projects. Els Pallaresos is preparing for a promising future, with a committed government and an active community.
