Warnings for high temperatures affect much of the territory

Weather warnings activated throughout the country

The high temperatures will keep several regions of Spain under yellow and orange warnings this Saturday, with temperatures that can reach 40 degrees in certain places, according to information from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).

Region by region: Andalusia and Aragon

In Andalusia, Córdoba is at high risk, while Almeria, Cádiz, Granada, Jaén, Málaga and Seville are at yellow risk. In Aragon, Huesca, Teruel and Zaragoza are also under major heat alert.

Risks to other autonomous communities

Castilla-La Mancha presents a significant risk in Albacete, while in Huesca the risk is moderate. In Catalonia, the provinces of Girona and Lleida are at high risk, while Barcelona and Tarragona are at moderate risk. In the Valencian Community, Alicante and Valencia are at high risk, with Castellón in a lower risk situation.

General weather conditions

This Saturday, stability is expected in a large part of the territory, with mainly clear skies. Only Galicia, the Cantabrian area and the upper Ebro can experience cloudy skies with the possibility of morning fog and light rain due to the presence of an Atlantic front.

Precipitation and clouds

In addition, clouds are expected to develop in regions of the north-east and north of Castile and Leon, with possible showers and occasional storms, especially in the Iberian and Pyrenees. Other inland areas could see some dry storms.

Low clouds in several areas

Intervals of low clouds are forecast on the coasts of Alborán, generating fogs and coastal mists. The Canary Islands will have partly cloudy skies, with the possibility of light showers in the higher islands.

General drop in temperatures

The AEMET predicts a drop in temperatures in a large part of the country, more noticeable in the maximum. However, temperatures in interior areas of the south and north-east half of the Peninsula, as well as in parts of the Balearic Islands and the south of the Canary Islands, will exceed 35 degrees. In some areas of Andalusia, Murcia and the south of the Valencian Community, temperatures could exceed 40 degrees.

The winds will be from the south in the eastern Mediterranean, from the north in the Cantabrian area and from the west in the rest of the country. In Alborán, intervals of strong westerly wind are expected. In the Canary Islands, trade winds are expected with intensification in the channels.
