Scorching heat and possible changes
Although the high temperature continues to affect a large part of Spain, a group of experts has begun to warn about the possibility of a significant change in weather conditions. This change could start over the weekend and last until the first days of next week.
It seems that, although the heat will continue to be extreme, the Spanish territory may experience episodes of rain and storms. This would reverse the trend of recent weeks of sweltering heat.
Warning from the State Meteorological Agency
The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued a warning about the possible appearance of dry storms or with minimal precipitation. This phenomenon could further raise the risk of wildfires, a growing concern given current conditions.
Dry storms, which are characterized by lightning without substantial rain, increase the danger of fires, especially in areas already affected by the long heat wave.
Jorge Rey prognosis
Meteorologist Jorge Rey has suggested that a low pressure system is on its way to Spain. According to their forecasts, storms and rain are likely to begin in late July and extend into the first days of August.
This information agrees with what AEMET has indicated. Rey emphasizes that the arrival of an Atlantic front is expected, which will have a notable impact in the north of the peninsula.
Forecasts of shading and precipitation
On Saturday, this front is expected to produce significant rainfall in northern Galicia and the Cantabrian region, becoming increasingly widespread during the day. Rainfall is likely to reach adjacent areas.
In the afternoon, an accumulation of clouds is expected in a large part of the northern half of the peninsula, the center and the southeast, including the Pyrenees. This could lead to isolated showers or thunderstorms, especially in the north of Castilla y León, in areas of the Iberian zone, the south-eastern mountains and the Pyrenees, with a higher probability of being intense in the north of Iberia.
The conditions for next week
For Sunday, it is expected that there will be clouds in the northern end of the peninsula, with the possibility of rain in northern Galicia and the Cantabrian area.
In addition, low clouds are forecast on the coast of the Valencian Community, especially at Cap de la Nao, with the option of rain. Inland, cloudiness is expected to develop during the afternoon, with the possibility of dry thunderstorms in the southeastern mountains and the Southern Plateau.
Regarding next week, the probability of rain will continue in a more widespread way.
On Monday, although the scenario may be uncertain, periods of medium to high cloud appear likely across most of the Peninsula. There is the possibility of dry or low-water storms in many inland areas, which could further complicate weather conditions in several areas of the country.
While this phenomenon could provide relief from this extreme heat, it also carries risks, including electrical storms and increased humidity.
