A call to adventure
The curiosity of the unknown, that impulse that leads us to cross oceans and climb mountains, is the engine that drives the adventurers to leave behind the comfort of their home. This weekend, the town of Altofulla will become the meeting point for those who share this passion for the trip.
A growing encounter
The fourth edition of this event, backed by the Diputación de Tarragona, will take place in the emblematic oven of the Lord. Here, nomads of more than one hundred countries will share their stories, enriching cultural exchange and traveling experience.
Reflections on the trip
Martín Garrido, president of the Association of Travelers and Writers (AVE), will be the host of this day. In his speech, he will highlight that the encounter will not only focus on physical adventures, but also explore the scientific and philosophical aspects of the trip, from the beginning of humanity to the discovery of America.
Inspiring inauguration
The inauguration will be led by Clara Strems and Cristina Fernández, who will present the conference ‘Being a woman is a heroic trip’. This talk promises to challenge the perceptions about the trip and the role of women in exploration.
Expert debate
In the afternoon, an experienced travelers panel will share their experiences to travel every corner of the world, offering a unique perspective on the challenges and rewards of the trip.
Knowledge expansion
On Saturday, the event will be transferred to the Museum of the Port of Tarragona, where three conferences open to the public will be held. The themes will cover explorations in polar regions, oceans and skies, presented by experts such as Javier Cacho, Héctor Salvador, Ángel Aguirre and Miquel Mesegué.
A trip over time
Saturday afternoon will offer a historical trip, from primitive time expeditions to medieval times, with Marina Mosquera and Antoni Riera Melis guiding the attendees through the history of travel. In addition, travel literature will be discussed, culminating with the presentation of the book ‘Siwa Drawings’ by its author, Jordi Esteva.
Recognition to travelers
On Sunday the delivery of the Joaquim Gatell award will be held, in honor of an outstanding Altofulla explorer. The award of the previous year was awarded to the journalist Tomás Alcoverro, who received the award from the renowned journalist Rosa Maria Calaf.
The trip as personal transformation
This meeting is not only a celebration of the physical trip, but an exploration of the inner trip that each adventurer experiences. The diversity of experiences and anecdotes shared by these travelers will remind us that each journey is an opportunity for personal growth and connection with the world.
