A meeting for social transformation
This week, about 400 monitors of the Pere Tarrés Foundation have met at the Abbey of Montserrat to commemorate the millennial of this emblematic institution. This activity is carried out within the framework of the annual meeting of the Catalan Esplai Centers Movement, which seeks to train young people in their role as companions of children and adolescents.
Start of activities in Esparreguera
The day began at the Taquígraf Garriga de Esparreguera School, where the participants were received with the slogan ‘And if …? We are the change! ‘ This phrase inspires a deep debate about the importance of educational leisure as a driver of change in today’s society. Young people were able to participate in various formations focused on topics such as the ecological crisis, conflict resolution and effective communication.
Authorized voices recognize youth commitment
Clara Quirante, Director General of Youth of the Generalitat, praised the contribution of young people as agents of change, emphasizing their ability to positively influence society. The Mayor of Esparreguera, Juan Jurado, also expressed his gratitude for the dedication of the monitors, emphasizing that these young people are essential for fostering the healthy growth of children.
Reflections on the future
Jurado emphasized the importance of transmitting values that help children become responsible adults, especially in a context marked by the rise of totalitarianisms. For her part, Anna Grau, President of the MCECC, thanked the organizing team for her dedication and reminded her for the connection to the leisure world lasts throughout her life.
Cultural and community celebration
In addition to the formations, the weekend included performances of popular culture, such as Ball de Bastons, Castells and Devils, which provided a tasting of the traditions of the Baix Llobregat. Local entities, such as the Montserrat Bastonera Colla and the Castellers d’Esparreguera, contributed to the festive atmosphere, while the music group The Papa’s & The Popo’s closed the day with a vibrant concert.
A meaningful ascent
The Esparreguera Moon Esplai Center played a key role in organizing activities, showing its commitment to the community and movement. On Sunday, the meeting culminated in a hike from Collbató to the Abbey of Montserrat, where participants enjoyed a community lunch and a Eucharist, thus strengthening the ties between the monitors, their families and the educational community.
A future full of possibilities
With this celebration, not only a millennial is commemorated, but also the mission of transforming society through education and leisure. The importance of this encounter lies in the ability of young people to have a positive impact, inspiring future generations to continue fighting for a better world.
