An Opportunity to Give Life
Next Friday, May 3, the Verge de la Salut College will host a new edition of the blood donation campaign. This event, which will take place from 4 pm to 8 pm, will represent the fifth occasion that the center will host this important activity. The school’s 4th grade students, together with the professionals of the Blood and Tissue Bank, will be in charge of organizing this day of solidarity.
Benefits of Donating Blood
Donating blood is intended for people between 18 and 70 years of age who weigh more than 50 kilos. This gesture is crucial for the functioning of the health system, especially in hospitals, since it is estimated that around 1,100 donations are needed daily, according to the Blood and Tissue Bank.
Preparations and Active Participation of Students
Before the day, a representative of the Blood Bank will provide an information session on various aspects related to blood, such as the different types, components and functions, all connected to the topics worked on in class. The students, organized in groups, will take on various tasks such as welcoming the donors, handing out the forms and offering refreshments to the participants.
Support and Recognition
The students have been very involved in the preparation of the campaign, making posters with this year’s slogan and making badges and magnets in collaboration with the Volunteering of Sant Feliu, which will be given as gifts to donors.
