The Valencian Courts refuse to dedicate 2024 to Estellés’ tribute
2024 will not be commemorated as the Estellés Year due to the rejection of PP and Vox by calling it “Catalanist”. This decision contrasts with that of the Provincial Council of Valencia and Alicante, as well as with the Generalitat.
The PP modifies the recognition proposal for Estellés
The PP presented a motion to alter the text that maintained the recognition of the figure of Estellés, but without including the designation of 2024 as the Year of Estellés, which was the central point of the Compromise proposal. Finally, the proposal was shelved after the PP voted against it.
Positions on the linguistic unity of Catalan
The political formations argued that Estellés was looking for the linguistic unity of Catalan, which motivated his rejection of the proposal. This generated criticism from the Socialists and Compromís, who accused the extreme right of affecting Valencian institutions.
Accusations and criticism between parties
Deputy José Muñoz accused Carlos Mazón of being subservient to the extreme right, while deputy Verònica Ruiz reproached the PP for its lack of support for the figure of Estellés on several occasions. This situation has generated tensions between the different political forces.
