The Sant Joan de Vilatorrada City Council approves the new budget for 2024

The Sant Joan de Vilatorrada Town Council Plenary has today approved the municipal budget for the next fiscal year, which amounts to 11,705,000 euros. This is the first new budget since 2020, as in the last three years the accounts had been extended.

The accounts have been approved with an absolute majority, with 10 favorable votes from the government team (Alternative for Sant Joan and Compromís with Sant Joan), while the PSC and ERC have abstained and the two Junts councilors have voted against.

Continuous work to improve the municipality

The Mayor, Jordi Solernou, has highlighted the importance of this new budget to continue working on projects and services aimed at improving the town. After the increase in basic supplies in recent years, it was necessary to have accounts adjusted to reality to guarantee the correct functioning of the City Council.

The Minister of Finance, Núria Valencia, added that these new budgets will improve management and promote new projects and investments in the medium term. The main novelties of this budget include an increase in individual aid, new projects in education and childhood, a wider cultural program and actions for equality and feminism.

Commitment to the environment and the territory

The Sant Joan de Vilatorrada City Council also highlights its commitment to environmental and territorial issues. The new accounts will improve maintenance and expand the road cleaning budget. In addition, items for projects in renewable energy, energy transition and promotion of sustainable mobility are included. The Local Housing Plan is also incorporated as a novelty.

In terms of investments, the budget contemplates the first phase of rehabilitation of Mas Llobet, the expansion of the network of climate shelters and a new recreation area for dogs. In addition, significant investments have been planned for the future.
