The mayors and county councils of Pallars Jussà and Alta Ribagorça have issued a joint statement
The mayors and county councils of Pallars Jussà and Alta Ribagorça have issued a joint statement in which they ask the Department of Territory to prioritize investment in the Xerallo-Pont de Suert section of the N-260 road works. This part of the road is considered strategic for the socio-economic development of the two regions, and it is also warned of its danger.
The importance of improving the Xerallo-Pont de Suert section
According to the mayors and county councils, the section of the N-260 is currently not capable of absorbing heavy traffic and does not facilitate the social or work relationship of the inhabitants of the counties. In addition, they emphasize that the improvement of this stretch of road has a transformative potential in the relations between the two valleys, and would allow the use of the facilities and public services of the two territories.
The need for a major investment
The mayors and county councils state that it is necessary for the investment to be significant enough to guarantee an effective improvement and to put an end to recurrent palliative actions that are only temporary and do not solve the problem definitively.
Solution to the C-13 traffic lights
On the other hand, the Minister of Territory, Ester Capella, has announced that the problem of the traffic lights on the C-13 is about to be solved. During weekends, there will be operators regulating traffic at this point to avoid long queues.
Withholdings in C-13
Traffic lights on the C-13 have caused significant delays during weekends between the municipalities of Talarn and Salàs de Pallars, especially when tourists arrive in the Pyrenees. In some cases, the 45 minute wait has been exceeded. Faced with this situation, the mayors of Salàs and La Pobla de Segur asked Territory to take measures to solve this problem.
