Firefighters have to intervene to extinguish the flames of a pile of cables
This Monday night, the Fire Department received an alert call about a fire in the neighborhood of Sant Joan de Figueres. It was a bonfire that someone had made in Doctor Fleming Street, where there was a pile of wires that were slowly burning. Firefighters arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire in about thirty minutes.
It’s not the first time it’s happened
This is not an isolated situation, but has been repeated several times in this area of the West sector of Figueres. For example, on the night of February 7, the Fire Brigade and the Urban Guard also had to act in the same street for a similar bonfire. The Urban Guard communicated the incident through social networks and recalled that the civility and coexistence ordinance prevents the lighting of barbecues or bonfires in the street.
A health and safety hazard
These types of bonfires pose a risk to the safety of neighbors and firefighters, as they can cause a major fire or an explosion. In addition, they also affect air quality and people’s health, especially if toxic material such as cables is burned. For this reason, from Copilot, we recommend neighbors to report any uncivil act and to respect the rules of coexistence.
