During the year 2023, Alcoi has generated a total of 21,911.24 tons of waste, a figure that is almost a thousand tons below the 22,738.51 tons collected the previous year. This reduction is particularly significant in the ‘resta’ fraction, which has decreased by almost 300 tonnes and has fallen below 14,500 tonnes. This represents a decrease of 3,500 tons compared to 2017.
Increased recycling
Another positive aspect is the increase in the amount of glass collected for recycling. During the year 2023, 1,022 tons of glass have been deposited, exceeding 1,000 tons for the first time. Despite these advances, the collection of packaging has experienced a slight decrease, going from 1,243.63 tons in 2022 to 1,132.10 tons in 2023. This decrease can be attributed to a reduction in the use of containers by citizens .

The collection of cardboard and bulky items has decreased, but this reduction can be influenced by factors such as the price of cardboard or repairs carried out in homes. On the other hand, there has been a significant increase in the collection of electrical and electronic waste, reaching almost 157 tonnes. This indicates that more and more people are making use of ecoparks and recycling these types of waste.
