MÉS for Mallorca proposes measures to support the country’s farmers
MÉS for Mallorca has registered a Non-Law Proposal in Parliament in support of the country’s farming. The eco-sovereign party expresses its support for the mobilizations of the primary sector and proposes measures at the European, state, regional, island and local level.
Measures at the European level
At the European level, MÉS per Mallorca calls for the simplification of the administrative processes of CAP aid and compensation for the extra costs of insularity. It also urges the European Commission to review free trade agreements to minimize the arrival of imported food products and ensure they meet the same environmental and labor standards as the European Union.
Measures at the state level
At state level, MÉS per Mallorca proposes measures to establish a market with fair, transparent and equitable prices for farmers. It also calls for measures to reduce the distances between the production and consumption of food, as well as the modification of the Strategic Plan of the PAC to ensure the viability of the income and the resilience of professional farming and the social sectors of the rural world.
Measures at the regional level
At regional level, MÉS per Mallorca proposes measures to enhance the presence of local products in the distribution of food and speed up the processing and payment of aid intended for the primary sector. It also calls for an increase in the funds of the Sustainable Tourism Tax to compensate for the environmental tasks of the primary sector and the regulatory change to end residential and tourist uses on rural land.
Measures at the insular and local level
At the insular and local level, MÉS per Mallorca proposes to revise the public procurement criteria to ensure that the food consumed or supplied by the administrations is from the Balearic Islands. It also calls for reviewing the public concession criteria to ensure that food service concessionaires incorporate local produce. In addition, it urges the Island Councils to guarantee compliance with the obligations to offer local products in hotel establishments.
