The new Valls irrigation pond will be operational in June 2024

The vice-president of the Government, Laura Vilagrà, visits the work together with the mayor Dolors Farré

Laura Vilagrà, vice-president of the Government, paid a visit on Friday 23 February to the construction of the new irrigation pond of the Valls Irrigation Community. Accompanied by the mayor Dolors Farré, she checked the state of this infrastructure which will have a capacity of 65,000 cubic meters of water. The pond is part of the second phase of the project to modernize the irrigation system of the Valls garden area, which will benefit most of the farmers of the Community of Irrigation.

Vilagrà emphasizes that the raft is a pioneering piece of equipment and a model for Catalonia

Vilagrà expressed that “this infrastructure places Valls as a benchmark in irrigation and will be an inspiration for other places in Catalonia”. He also affirmed that water management at the local level is essential to deal with the current drought situation. From the Alt Camp, he claimed the investment of 1,045 million euros, announced a few days ago by the Government, to fight the drought this 2024.
