They rob and assault a taxi driver in Poble-sec, Barcelona.

The incident took place around four in the morning on Margarit street, in the Poble-sec neighborhood.

On Wednesday night Thursday of last week, January 18, four criminals took a taxi and, after making the journey to Poble-sec, attacked and robbed the driver. Now the Mossos d’Esquadra are tracking the four perpetrators of the crime, who were recorded by the taxi camera – although it is difficult to identify them.

The incident took place around four in the morning on Carrer Margarit, in the Poble-sec neighborhood. When the taxi reached the top of the street, in Montjuïc, the thieves decided to attack the driver.

It was a completely premeditated assault. While one of the assailants was holding the driver back, another assaulted him and the other two acted as bellmen.

The taxi driver managed to capture the four thieves with his outside camera – taxi drivers in Barcelona are forbidden to bring a camera inside – so he was able to record the incident and the escape of the criminals.

For months, the industry has been asking for authorization from the authorities so that taxis can carry an interior camera to ensure safety, along with an information sign inside the vehicle for passengers.

The Catalan police remember that more and more taxi drivers carry less cash, since almost 100% of payments are made by card.
