The AEMPS warns of the risk of Reanibex 100 defibrillators disconnecting without warning

The Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) has warned of the possibility of Reanibex 100 defibrillators suddenly disconnecting when an attempt is made to deliver a shock, despite showing an adequate battery level.

In an informative note, the AEMPS – a body that depends on the Ministry of Health – explains that the probability of the problem occurring is high in defibrillators with software versions 2.06 or lower and, above all, when the battery has been installed in the device more than two years.

Solution to the problem

To solve this incident, the manufacturer company has informed that it is necessary to update the software to version 2.07, with which the standby battery consumption compensation method is improved and the remaining battery value indicated is correct, as indicated in the note.

According to the AEMPS, these products are distributed in Spain through the company Osatu S. Coop (Bexen cardio), Quirumed S.L.O, Fundació SSG, Lost Simetry S.L, AB Medica group S.A..

Indications of defibrillators

Reanibex 100 external defibrillators are indicated for use by personnel with minimal knowledge and training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

When connected to a patient, these healthcare products automatically analyze the patient’s electrocardiogram (ECG) and decide whether or not to apply a shock.
