The former chief commissioner of the Internal Affairs Unit of the National Police, Marcelino Martín Blas, has revealed that the Catalonia operation was actually called ‘Project Barna’ and was started in November 2012 by the then president of the Catalan PP, Alicia Sánchez-Camacho, and commissioner José Manuel Villarejo. The aim of this operation was to discredit the leaders of CiU, Jordi Pujol, Artur Mas and Felip Puig, with the accusation of having hidden bank accounts in Liechtenstein.
