Cadaqués is a unique place, full of attractions and adventure. It is a town that captivates visitors with its beauty and charm. However, in recent years, we have seen how the people have lost their way and fallen into excessive speculation. This situation is driving out local residents and we are in danger of becoming an amusement park on the Costa Brava.
An unreal reality
Cadaqués is more than just a theme park like Port Aventura. It’s a place with a life of its own, with a community that works hard to maintain its authenticity. Local workers open their houses every day to bring life to the village and close them at night. This is what makes Cadaqués special, it is a place where fantasy becomes reality.
A call to action
It’s time to say enough to speculation and take urgent measures to protect the soul of Cadaqués. We must ask apartment owners to rent at reasonable prices and with long-term contracts to workers, artists and neighbors. We also need to protect local representatives of the people and ensure that they do not fall victim to speculative madness.
An uncertain future
Currently, most homes in Cadaqués are second homes or tourist flats. This situation is driving out local families and is destroying the soul of the village. We must demand that the City Council take measures to stop this bleeding and protect the future of Cadaqués. This may include increasing rates on tourist apartments and regulating long-term rentals.
We are all Cadaqués
Cadaqués is more than just an amusement park. It is a place with a rich history and a vibrant community. We must work together to preserve its authenticity and ensure that Cadaqués remains a place where everyone feels welcome. It is time to take action and protect the future of Cadaqués, because without the town and the people, Cadaqués would be nothing.
