The growing Catalan industry

Catalan industry has experienced growth of 2.8% during the year 2023, despite international economic conditions and the slowdown in growth in the euro zone. This positive trend has been attributed to the good performance of exports and the moderation of energy prices

Several sectors on the rise

The Industrial Production Index by sector highlights the good performance of transport equipment, with a year-on-year increase of 15.5%. Growth has also been observed in pharmaceutical production (+5.7%), extractive industries (+5.3%), machinery and mechanical equipment (+3.8%) and electrical equipment (+2, 9%)

Exports on the rise

Positive employment data

Social Security affiliations have increased by 1.4% year-on-year, with a positive trend that has now lasted for 34 consecutive months. On the other hand, industrial unemployment has decreased by a cumulative 5.3% year-on-year, standing at a level 12.1% lower than before the pandemic
