The first experience with a mobile phone

I remember perfectly the day I was bought my first mobile phone when I was fourteen. It was one of those that opened and closed with a lid and was only used to make calls or send SMS, since at that time smartphones with internet access were not yet widespread. Although it didn’t have many of today’s functions, that device that today almost seems like a relic to us was a long-awaited gift because it represented a first conquest of freedom that allowed me to call my girlfriends or write to the boy I liked he liked it without the need for his parents to find out.

The evolution of mobile phones and the risks to mental health

All this has been over ten years ago and since then mobile phones have evolved so much that they have become devices that offer more possibilities than ever, but at the same time expose us to certain risks that endanger our health mental It has recently been debated by a draft law to protect minors in digital environments which for the first time will impose free and accessible parental control on all mobile phones. The aim is to give parents more tools to control minors’ access to inappropriate content such as pornography and avoid the adverse effects of the abuse of these technologies.

The harms of overexposure to screens

It’s true that mobile phones connect us to the world, but they also make us dependent on technology. The device that emerged as a tool to facilitate communication has become a space where technological giants speculate with our data and compete to steal our time. We should put more limits on our privacy and compel companies to respect workers’ leisure spaces. It is contradictory to think that the same feeling of independence that gave me the first mobile phone I experience now when I turn it off for a while and concentrate on the life in front of me that does not need any filter to admire it.
