Centelles opens the carnival season in Osona
A magical and enigmatic show in the Witches’ Den
Centelles begins its celebration of Carnival 2024 after the successful event of the Witches’ Den, which has filled every corner of the municipality with mystery. Last Sunday, the opening speech took place, by the Mai és tard theater group of the Centelles Association of Senior Citizens.
The first act of the Carnival was starred by fifteen people dressed as smurfs, Gargamel and the cat Azrael. With a direct, simple and funny message, they kicked off the Carnival 2024 festivities. In a ten-minute announcement, they gave an ironic and humorous review of the highlights of the last year in Centelles: the cutting down of trees in the streets, the excrement of the dogs, the Palau dels Comtes without a roof, the pollution of the buses near the station, the occupied social flats and they made reference to Josep Paré, the mayor of the municipality.
During these days, Centelles warms up with the funny slogans of King Carnestoltes, which can be followed through social networks and the town hall. On Friday, February 2, the Niu d’infants, Ildefons Cerdà, Xoriguer and Vedruna-Sagrats Cors schools will participate in the school street. But the most awaited moment will be Saturday, February 3, with the great Rua de Carnaval.
From 5:00 p.m., the celebration will begin with the concentration of floats and troupes around Carrer Torras i Bages. A large participation is expected, with group registrations already reaching 18 and an expectation of a thousand people from up to three different generations. The street will start in front of the Sant Gabriel residence and end in front of the municipal pavilion, where there will be dancing and a service of drinks and sandwiches.
An inclusive party for everyone
This year, a quiet section has been opened between the station and the via bridge on Avinguda Ildefons Cerdà. This area will have a reduction in visual and auditory stimuli to encourage people with sensory hypersensitivity and/or functional diversity to fully enjoy the street. The carnival dance in the pavilion, with DJ Puig and DJ Kuru, will start at 10:30 p.m. and continue until dawn.
