Former soccer player Luis Tejada, Panama’s historic goalscorer, dies of a heart attack

Luis Tejada, the top scorer of the Panamanian national team, has lost his life at the age of 41 due to a heart attack. The ex-footballer was playing a friendly match in an amateur league in Santa Librada when he suffered severe heart problems and could not be revived by the medical services.

A career full of goals

Luis Tejada, known as El Matador, had a long career in teams in America (both in the United States, Mexico, his native country and several in South America), as well as a brief experience at Al Ain in the Emirates United Arabs He was the offensive reference of the Panama national football team for more than a decade, with 108 games and 43 goals, ranking 83rd among players with 40 or more goals in national teams.

The emotional farewell of Blas Pérez

One of his great friends and colleagues in the national team, Blas Pérez, wanted to dedicate some words of admiration and affection to him through social networks. The attacker also posted a short and emotional message to X to say goodbye to Tejada. “I will always remember you, brother. Thank you for everything you did for Panama. Rest in peace, Matador,” Perez wrote.
