The supermarket chain Lidl is strongly betting on its expansion in Catalonia

Lidl has announced an investment of 140 million euros for the construction of its new warehouse in Martorell. This new logistics platform, which is expected to be operational in 2025, will be a large and modern facility aimed at improving Lidl’s efficiency and service offering in Catalonia.

The future Martorell warehouse will occupy an area of more than 126,000 square meters and will have 144 loading docks. With these dimensions, it will become one of the largest logistics centers in Europe for Lidl. In addition, this project will allow the company to boost its business in the north-east of Spain and continue to generate local wealth and employment.

Another step in the consolidation of Lidl in Catalonia

Lidl is already a key player in the Catalan economy, with an impact of almost 1.3 billion euros and more than 26,000 jobs generated in the region. The chain has more than 120 stores in Catalonia and a workforce of more than 4,000 people. In addition, Lidl is committed to acquiring regional products and collaborating with local suppliers, contributing to the economic development of the area.

National expansion of Lidl

The Martorell project is part of a national expansion plan for Lidl, which includes other logistics projects in different parts of the peninsula. With this investment, Lidl seeks to consolidate itself as one of the main drivers of the economy and the labor market in Catalonia and throughout Spain.
