The port of BCN will launch its first nautical bus on July 1
Barcelona will launch its first maritime taxi on July 1 and will connect La Rambla with Nova Bocana. It will be a kind of nautical transport or shuttle that will cross the entire Port Vell through the center and thus avoid having to make a long trip around Barceloneta to reach the far end. This direct connection can help alleviate the summer slumps caused by the intense tourist traffic in the area. The new service will be operated by the Alsa Group, with two zero-emission boats.
Award for 15 years
The board of directors of the Port of Barcelona approved yesterday the award of the service for 15 years. The award is formally in the name of the UTE formed by Nex Continental Holdings, SLU and Bahia Zero SL. As EL PERIÓDICO reported, the reform of the awnings of the Moll de Llevant – behind the Vela Hotel – includes a maritime station for this maritime taxi, which will have its other terminal at the Drassanes pier. The service will operate a minimum of 12 hours a day and will have a capacity of 70 passengers per boat.
Rates and discounts
The maximum fare per trip has been set at 1.9 euros and there are plans for passes for 10 trips, for 2 and 30 days, as well as discounts for children, young people and the elderly, according to the Port of Barcelona .
