The reform of Carrer Ample in the Vall d’en Bas: a two-way issue

The vision of the City Council

The City Council of the Vall d’en Bas does not understand the latest protests by residents on Carrer Ample that occurred last Tuesday. The council picked up the only neighborhood complaint regarding the reform of Carrer Ample: maintaining two-way traffic. This was stated by the mayor, Lluís Amat, in statements to NacióGarrotxa.

The perspective of the neighbors

The 400 signatures collected by the Som la veu d’en Bas platform were presented to the council with the sole demand to maintain two-way traffic. Although the City Council has already modified the initial project to maintain this double direction, around thirty residents temporarily stopped the works, expressing their concern about the change in the town’s mobility.

The defense of the mayor

The mayor defends that the reform will not affect the mobility of the town, assuring that Carrer Ample will be more than five meters wide and that the works will include improvements to the sidewalks, sanitation, tree planting and telecommunications undergrounding. To resolve doubts, the City Council has called an informational meeting open to everyone.
