The reformist movement in the world of football

The challenges of the reformists

Despite the reputation they have in some societies, the reformists do not manage to make a dent in these latitudes, as demonstrated by the result obtained by the treasurer of the Spanish Football Federation and follower of the leader Luis Rubiales.

The reformist movement has never been the favorite of the state structures, especially in matters as delicate as the control of football. As Grandma Neus used to say, food matters are not to be taken lightly. This has been experienced in areas such as the judiciary, where changes become difficult, and in the police area, where endogamy practices are mixed with patriotic and private interests.

Resistance to change

The resistance to reformist movements is evident in the case of the Spanish Football Federation. The designation of Pedro Rocha as the only candidate, with the endorsement of 77.5% of the members of the federation, shows a clear resistance to the reformist alternatives. This suggests that a significant part of the current members prefer to maintain the status quo, despite the criticism and demand for change expressed by reformist sectors.

Implications in Spanish football

This resistance to change has direct implications in the management and direction of Spanish football. The continuation of the scrimmages, as supporters of the reform refer to, could cause tensions and challenges within the federation, limiting the opportunities for improvement and modernization of Spanish football.
