A new protest will paralyze Mercabarna against foreign products

A mobilization for the peasantry

The Unió de Pagesos union has called a new protest in Barcelona with the aim of paralyzing access to Mercabarna. Under the slogan “The peasantry says enough”, the organizers want to prevent access to the wholesale market of fresh food from outside the European Union to claim an improvement in the economic conditions of the agricultural sector.

Claiming the quality of the products

The union aims to stop the entry of products that do not comply with the health controls of the European Union, especially those from Morocco, such as tomatoes or beans.

Protests elsewhere

This mobilization is added to the protests that the farmers started last week and that continue this Monday in several places in the demarcation of Lleida.

Notification of restrictions and warnings

One of the spokespersons for the mobilization, Jordi Larios, has denounced unjustified restrictions and criticized the Government for preventing them from demonstrating. He also warned that patience has limits and that in the future they might not be available when they are needed.
