The Africa Energy Forum Congress in Barcelona
From June 25 to 28, Barcelona will host the Africa Energy Forum (AEF) congress, becoming the meeting point for 33 ministers and 100 high officials from countries such as Nigeria, Egypt, Kenya, Senegal and Sierra Leone. This event aims to debate the energy future of the African continent, highlighting the growing influence of the AEF in the energy sector.
Participation of investors and key entities
In addition to government representatives, the congress will also have the participation of investors from 90 countries and important corporations and key entities in the sector, such as the World Bank, Engie, Power Africa, GE Vernova, Total Energies or AfDB. This meeting between countries, investors and organizations highlights the increasing importance of the AEF in each annual edition.
Debate on Africa’s energy future
The 26th edition of the AEF, entitled Energy Systems for the Future: Balancing Africa’s Needs with Global Goals, will address key topics such as the potential of hydrogen on the African continent, the management of electricity supply networks, the ‘energy storage and distribution, the role of gas and mining in the future, the promotion of renewable energy projects, distributed power and commercial and industrial projects to accelerate universal access, as well as the development of markets energy for a wider energy transition in Africa.
Paper from Spain and other European countries
Spain plans to mobilize 2.1 billion euros to finance energy transition projects in South Africa in the next five years, with the participation of Spanish companies in the area. In addition, a line of 200 million euros of financing has been announced for the development of green hydrogen projects in Mauritania. Thus, Spain joins other European countries such as France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and the EU in supporting the use of green energy in Africa.
