A tragic fire
Firefighters have found the charred corpse of a person after putting out a fire in a caravan in the Mont-redons part of Flix (Ribera d’Ebre). The emergency services received a warning shortly before 23.00 this Sunday about the fire in a caravan where there could be a person inside. Two water vehicles and a command vehicle were dispatched with the deputy chief of territorial coordination, according to the Fire Department. The fire, which could be stabilized in half an hour, burned “two caravans, several adjacent wooden structures and butane bottles, which had an active leak with fire in the overpressure valve”.
Ongoing investigation
Once the fire was extinguished, the emergency services were able to begin the search for the possible victim, who was eventually located inside one of the burnt caravans. The Mossos d’Esquadra have opened an investigation to clarify the causes of the fire. This Monday morning, the body was removed and work began to identify the dead person. A ground unit from the Medical Emergency System (SEM) and the doctor from the Primary Care Center (CAP) were also dispatched to the site of the accident, but in the end no medical assistance was required.
Second incident in a month
This tragic incident is the second in a month where a person has died in a caravan fire. At the end of December, the Mossos d’Esquadra opened an investigation to clarify the causes of the death of a person who appeared burned to death in a caravan set on fire in Vilassar de Mar (Maresme). As in the case of Flix, the firemen found the body after putting out the fire in the vehicle. The emergency services received a warning in the morning for a vegetation fire near the Pla de Vilassar de Dalt path with Torrent de la Ponsa. Upon arrival, the Firefighters found the fire fully developed and could not do anything to prevent the vehicle from burning completely. The fire affected the vegetation in about 400 meters around the caravan.
