In memory of Marouan

Marouan, a young man with dreams

Marouan was a young participant in a 360º Roof Project in the demarcation of Girona who lost his life in a tragic accident with a train last morning on January 5, crossing a railway tunnel between Cervera and Banyuls-sur-Mer.

A young man with opportunities

Marouan had been homeless for two years, but he finally had the chance to turn his life around and pursue his dreams. Thanks to a pastry and bakery training program, he had managed to work and build a new life for himself.

Challenges and opportunities

Unfortunately, the mistakes of the security forces and the hardships that many homeless youth face marred Marouan’s path. Lack of proper education and support were contributing factors to his tragic death.

The importance of support and accompaniment

Young people like Marouan who have the opportunity to participate in projects like Sostre 360º experience a radical change in their lives. Through support and building networks with the community, culture, businesses and the neighborhood, these young people have the possibility to grow and achieve their dreams.

Young people with dreams

Young people like Marouan are no different from other young people in the world. They have dreams and aspirations like any other young Catalan or any other part of the world. When a young person who has been excluded from society has the opportunity to change his situation, it is as if he sees the light after being in the dark.

Remembering Marouan

Today, we remember Marouan and his hopes and wishes that must not fall into oblivion. His death reminds us of the importance of supporting young people in vulnerable situations and working to create a fairer and more inclusive society.
