A cold and rainy spring
During this week, temperatures have experienced a significant drop in Catalonia. Since Monday, we have witnessed heavy rains and the last few days have been characterized by the presence of water and a decrease in temperatures. In summary, the beginning of spring has been rainier than expected, which has been well received by the authorities, who have even considered lifting the state of alarm due to drought. However, this Wednesday temperatures are expected to continue dropping and even reach zero degrees in some areas of the interior of Catalonia. Despite this, the Catalan Meteorological Service has announced that the rain will give a respite to the Catalans and its return is not expected until Easter.
Variations in temperatures
For this Wednesday, temperatures in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area are forecast to fall to 10 degrees. The municipalities near the capital will have temperatures between 5 and 10 degrees in the morning, but an increase is expected during the day due to sunrise. On the other hand, even more pronounced drops in temperatures are observed in inland and northern areas. The regions of Bages, Anoia and Solsonès will start the day with temperatures of 0 degrees. Furthermore, in the Vall d’Aran, Alt Urgell and the two Pallars negative temperatures have been recorded this morning, even reaching -10 degrees in some points. It is important to keep in mind that these drops will not continue throughout the day, since with the sunrise it is expected that temperatures will rise. However, it seems that the week of rain in Catalonia has left a much colder environment that will last until Easter.
An Easter spent in water
According to Meteocat data, the chances of rain for this Wednesday have decreased and no rain is expected anywhere in Catalonia. During the early morning, the sky will be clear, although there will be some intervals of clouds in the extreme northeast. Starting in the morning, high clouds are expected everywhere, which will result in partly cloudy skies. As for the wind, strong gusts are expected in some areas of the Tramuntana. In general, Wednesday is presented as a calm day for the Catalans, although this truce will not last long. Holy Week will be a period of rain throughout the country, and much of Catalonia is expected to be covered by high clouds and some showers. However, the rainiest day will be Sunday, since except for the Maresme area, it will rain throughout the region. As for the other days, scattered rains are expected in more specific points on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
