Moià celebrates the Three Tombs with a great turnout and spring weather

The Three Tombs of Moià have celebrated their 40th anniversary with a great attendance. Despite being a winter Sunday, the weather surprised with an almost spring-like climate, inviting the villagers to go outside and participate in this festivity.

Various previous events started the celebration

The festivities began last Wednesday, January 17, coinciding with the feast of Sant Antoni Abat. This day began with a solemn mass in tribute to the ex-flagbearers, administrators and members. On Saturday, the 20th, the flag was handed over to this year’s flag bearer, Rosalia Closas, in an emotional event accompanied by administrators and former flag bearers. Later, the Town Hall hosted the reception of the Honorary Pallbearer, Rut Montsech Gasca, a European medalist from Moia.

Serenade and popular sausage

On Saturday afternoon, the traditional serenade was held for the administrators of Sant Antoni Abat to announce the celebration of the Three Tombs. Afterwards, in the Plaça Major, a lively popular sausage sizzle was held.

Ride and blessing

On Sunday morning, the central events of the Three Tombs festival took place with an impressive cavalcade. The entourage was made up of the municipal band of the Moià School of Music, the traditional Pollo, the group of local grallers, carriages, tartans, oxen, carts, horses, mules, ponies and tractors, among other participants. During the day, the blessing of the Three Tombs took place in the Plaça Major and on the third tomb you could enjoy the short Contrapás Dance of Moià. This blessing included both the animals and vehicles that were part of the parade as well as the pets of the attendees.
