Arrests in Salou for crimes against public health and fraud of electric fluid

The Mossos d’Esquadra arrest two men in Salou

The Mossos d’Esquadra carried out yesterday in Salou the arrest of two men aged 33 and 27, suspected of committing crimes against public health and defrauding electric fluid. This operation began last November following several reports pointing to the existence of a marijuana plantation in a terraced villa in the town.

A complex investigation

The location of the villa, located in a dead-end street with little vehicle traffic, made the task of the officers difficult, as the detainees did not raise suspicions among the neighbors. In addition, the Mossos confirmed that the house had been rented by a man who acted as a front for the traffickers, after deceiving the owner.

A successful operation

After carrying out the relevant checks, the investigators found that there were sufficient indications to prove that a criminal offense was being committed inside the property. This led to the entrance and search of the villa by the agents of the Tarragona Investigation Unit, together with public order teams (ARRO) and Salou citizen security patrols (USC).

The operation culminated in the arrest of the main suspects and the confiscation of 37 kilos of dried marijuana, as well as nearly 3,000 euros in cash. The drug involved would have a market value of around 74,000 euros. In addition, the agents discovered that the interior of the villa had been modified to accommodate the installation of devices that accelerated the growth of plants, as well as to obtain a fraudulent electricity supply.

The investigation continues

The police operation remains open and new arrests are not ruled out. The detainees will be brought before the trial court in Tarragona duty in the next few hours.
