Carles Puigdemont’s defense criticizes Judge Aguirre’s investigation

Lawyer Gonzalo Boye harshly criticizes the investigation

Carles Puigdemont’s lawyer, Gonzalo Boye, has harshly criticized the new investigation by Judge Joaquín Aguirre, which seeks to charge the former presidents of the Generalitat Artur Mas and Carles Puigdemont with embezzlement and high treason in relation to the alleged Russian plot. Boye has ironically commented on the research, stating that certain ages can lead to delusions like those being read in these 57 pages. In an interview on TV3, the lawyer defended that supporting an order like that of Judge Aguirre is throwing into the trash the little prestige that the judiciary has left.

Boye criticizes the capacity of Judge Aguirre and the lack of bibliography in the order

Boye has assured that Aguirre is not qualified to be a judge and has pointed out that the order lacks a bibliography, since according to him, there are quotes from books that the judge has not read and that have been read by a journalist friend. Furthermore, he has announced that they will present a document denouncing the people who have participated in the design of these actions. In an interview on RAC1, Boye stated that he has the names and surnames of the people who directly advise Judge Aguirre and that they will be summoned to testify at the time.

Boye accuses the judge of ignoring judicial decisions and notifying through the press

Puigdemont’s lawyer has accused Judge Aguirre of ignoring the decisions of the Provincial Court of Barcelona and the amnesty law, which includes the crime of treason. Boye has stated that he is not surprised by the accusation of the judge in the Volhov case, since they had information that he would act in this way. Furthermore, he has criticized that the judge notifies everything through the press, following the old custom of dictatorships. According to Boye, these actions break any trust in justice.

Boye defends his clients and warns about the rule of law

Boye has assured that he will defend himself and his clients, and has warned that the rule of law is at risk. He has regretted that these actions break any trust in justice and has stressed that not only the particular situation of Puigdemont and other suspects is at stake, but the rule of law as a whole.

Boye criticizes the accusation through social networks

In addition to statements to the media, Gonzalo Boye has criticized the accusation through his social networks, sharing clippings of Aguirre’s interview. In one of them, the judge suggests that Pedro Sánchez was inaugurated as president of the Spanish government thanks to Vladimir Putin. Boye has described the judge’s actions as a delusional situation and has questioned the alleged Russian plot related to the PSOE.
