Congress approves the creation of an investigative commission
Congress gave the green light this Thursday to the creation of a commission of inquiry into the purchase of masks during the pandemic. The initiative, promoted by the Socialist Party after the information about the ‘Koldo case’, has gone ahead thanks to the votes of the investiture bloc and with the abstention of the Popular Party.
Commission objective
The commission aims to analyze the purchase of medical supplies from Public Administrations during the coronavirus pandemic. With 175 votes in favor, 126 abstentions and 33 votes against Vox, the commission has been approved and the Congress Board will meet to begin the implementation procedures.
Boost of the Socialist Party
The Socialist Party decided to promote this investigation after the scandal over commissions in the purchase and sale of masks in the Ministry of Transport during the pandemic. Faced with the ‘Koldo case’, the Socialist Party requested the resignation of former Minister José Luis Ábalos from his deputy status and launched this commission to call all those involved in irregularities regarding mask contracts.
Openness to new research
Following the information about the commissions and the fraud to the Treasury that the Prosecutor’s Office is investigating against Alberto García Amador, partner of the Madrid president Isabel Díaz Ayuso, the Socialist Party has shown its willingness to also call the leader of the Popular Party.
