The judge of instruction 1 of Barcelona, Joaquín Aguirre, has imputed the ex-commissioner José Manuel Villarejo following the complaint presented by the private detective Francisco Marco.
Context i antecedents
The events reported occurred more than a decade ago, when, as part of the investigation into the recording of a meeting between the ex-leader of the PP in Catalonia Alicia Sánchez Camacho and Victoria Álvarez, ex-partner of Jordi Pujol Ferrusola, in restaurant La Camarga, a judge ordered the search of the Método 3 agency. The director of the company, who was detained for a few hours on the day of the search, accuses Villarejo of being behind this movement and of having taken more documentation in this search. The Magistrate of the National Court Manuel García Castellón filed in July 2022 Marco’s complaint against Villarejo, arguing that these facts had already been investigated in another part of the Villarejo case.
Operation Catalonia
Operation Catalonia refers to the existence since 2012 of an organization made up of members of the Police, the government of Mariano Rajoy and the PP which, with the help of journalists and the media, ordered a plan against Catalan independence. In the central courts of Madrid there are several pieces that affect the Catalonia operation, but some denunciations or complaints have been postponed, such as that of the former president of FC Barcelona Sandro Rosell.
Appointment to declare
According to La Vanguardia and confirmed by El Nacional, Aguirre summons the former commissioner of the National Police, former chief inspector Antonio Giménez Ras and the detective who worked for both Julián Peribáñez to testify next September.
