Temperatures are rising
The atypical spring atmosphere will peak again this Wednesday. It will surely be the day of the week with the highest temperatures, as the thermometers will rise even more and clearly, especially in Central Catalonia and the regions of Barcelona and Girona at noon.
Therefore, many maximums will be between 17 and 23ºC, but locally it is not ruled out that it will touch or reach 25ºC, especially at points along the pre-littoral and inland of the Ebro. This completely out of place environment for us in mid-February will mean that in many counties people will be seen wearing shirt sleeves or shorts during the central hours of the day.
Weather variability
The thermometers have also risen overnight in parts of the interior and the Pyrenees with practically no frost. Only in some areas of the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees has it dropped slightly below 0ºC, with some locally colder values, highlighting the -5ºC minimum in Das (Cerdanya). Therefore, we will have to dress in layers, as there will be a marked thermal contrast between the moderate cold of the early hours and the mild or warm atmosphere of midday.
state of the sky
As for the state of the sky, the sun will dominate especially in the morning with the permission of some mists or fogs, as well as some local low cloud on the coast. As the hours pass, bands of high and thin clouds will arrive that, throughout the afternoon, will spread across the territory from west to east. In fact, in the afternoon there will be a more variable sky the more in Ponent. However, precipitation is not expected anywhere on a day to take advantage.
Forecast for the coming days
Towards Thursday, the minimum temperatures will clearly rise with little wintry cold in the early hours. On the other hand, the maximums will recede a little on the coast, pre-coastal, Central Catalonia and Terres de l’Ebre, although we will continue with a very mild atmosphere for the season.
Looking ahead to the rest of the week, between Thursday evening and Friday there will be some instability with some showers in the Ports, the Pyrenees and, locally, in Ponent. Very little and it will pass quickly. All together with fairly similar temperatures, except for some ups and downs, and we will continue with above average values.
Long-term prospects
If we take a look at the long-term maps, there is no way to see a clear situation of general and generous rainfall in sight. Next week we could receive a more active Atlantic squall that will reactivate the snowfall in the Pyrenees and lower the thermometers, but very little water will fall in the rest of the country.
