New Local Development Initiative
At a recent event, the President of the Lleida Provincial Council, Joan Talarn, together with the Vice President Agustí Jiménez and the director of the Local Cooperation Area, Victor Peguera, announced a new call for the recruitment of local technicians and techniques. This initiative has a budget of 1,264,000 euros, with the aim of improving the quality of life of citizens and revitalizing the areas affected by depopulation.
Strategic objectives of the call
The new support line is designed to equip councils with professionals who can develop projects that have a real and sustainable impact. Talarn emphasized the importance of these technicians, saying that they are “essential for implementing policies that foster population fixation and revitalize our communities.”
Beneficiaries and selection criteria
The municipalities with less than 1,000 inhabitants will be the main beneficiaries of this call. Those with a population of less than 500 inhabitants will have priority in the selection, as well as those who have experienced a greater decrease in population in the last decade.
Increased resources and territorial commitment
This year’s call represents a significant leap compared to the first edition, held in 2022, which had 631,726.82 euros and allowed the hiring of 18 technicians. In contrast, this year, the Diputación has doubled the investment, making it possible to hire more than 33 professionals. Jiménez stated that ‘this increase is a proof of our commitment to the territory and its needs.’
The future of local development
With the gaze on the future, both Talarn and Jiménez expressed their intention to create an environment where the inhabitants could find employment opportunities and build durable life projects. “Our goal is to ensure that more and more people decide to stay here and to contribute to the growth of their municipalities,” they concluded.
