Citation of Testimonies in Judicial Cases
Carles Puigdemont’s lawyer, Gonzalo Boye, has expressed his opinion on the change of date for the summons of five testimonies in the case against the wife of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez. Initially scheduled for Thursday, June 6, these testimonies must now appear next Sunday, June 16 starting at 12:00 p.m. The judge in charge has indicated that, being on duty that day, he cannot guarantee the exact time of the statements. Although uncommon, the law establishes that all days are business days to carry out the judicial process.
Lawyer Assessment
Boye, through a message on the social network X, has commented on the situation, attributing it to the precarious state of Justice. He has indicated that he has witnessed judicial proceedings on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, which, according to him, reflects the reality of the Investigating Courts. In relation to the concept of lawfare, Boye refers to Pedro Sánchez’s letter recently published in response to the accusation of his wife for alleged crimes. In the letter, Sánchez mentions that the summons was made only five days before the European elections, which he considers strange, since it is usually avoided to issue resolutions that could condition the normal development of an electoral campaign.
Postponement of the Summons
The postponement of the summons was requested by Begoña Gómez’s lawyer, Antonio Camacho, due to a trial in the National Court for another case. In response, Judge Peinado has set the new date for June 16. The witnesses cited include the CEO of Red.es, David Cierco, among others. For her part, Begoña Gómez is scheduled for July 5.
Clean Hands Complaint
The judge’s decision to open proceedings was opposed by the Prosecutor’s Office, which filed an appeal before the Madrid Court, requesting that the case be archived, an appeal that was rejected. It all arises from a complaint from the far-right group Clean Hands, which accuses Gómez of acting to benefit her personal status as the wife of the President of the Government. The Provincial Court of Madrid endorsed the investigation in Gómez, supporting the complaint of the ultra union.
Paraphrasing Quote
Once the work has been cited, there is no need to repeat the citation as long as the context of the writing makes it clear that the same work continues to be paraphrased. Paraphrasing reaffirms another author’s idea in the writer’s own words, allowing information from one or more sources to be summarized and synthesized.
