Surprise announcement: Pedro Sánchez presents a new package of measures to improve democratic quality before the end of the summer

The president of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez, has announced an unexpected initiative during the plenary session of the Congress of Deputies this Wednesday.

Commitment to improve democratic quality

In response to a question from ERC’s parliamentary spokesman, Gabriel Rufián, Pedro Sánchez has promised to present a new package of measures to improve the democratic quality of the State before the end of the summer.

This initiative aims to move from symbolic actions to concrete and effective measures to combat corruption and other practices that endanger democracy.

A strong answer

Facing criticism from the opposition, Pedro Sánchez has affirmed that he speaks clearly and that he does things. He highlighted the policies implemented by his government in areas such as access to housing, labor reform, pensions and education, as well as the increase in the interprofessional minimum wage.

Discarding early elections

In response to the demand of the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, to call early elections, Pedro Sánchez has ruled out this possibility. He has claimed that he will win the next election and criticized the polarization and disinformation promoted by the opposition.

With this surprise announcement, Pedro Sánchez seeks to strengthen his position and demonstrate his commitment to improving the democratic quality of the State.
