The CHV celebrates Easter with a solidarity monkey for Paediatrics

A joint initiative between the Consorci Hospitalari de Vic, PaVic and Eukarya to raise funds for the humanization of pediatric spaces

The Consorci Hospitalari de Vic (CHV) has joined the Easter celebration with the La mona dels smirres campaign. This is a solidarity action promoted by the CHV, PaVic and Eukarya with the aim of collecting money to improve and humanize the pediatric spaces at the Vic University Hospital.

The smiley monkey has as its protagonist Orellut, the mascot of the pediatric services of the CHV, which has taken the form of chocolate from the hand of Lluc Crusellas, master chocolatier. This Thursday at noon, Crusellas and Marcel Martí de PaVic delivered sweets to all the children admitted to the hospital in the capital of Osona. “Can we eat it all?”, the children said happily.

A project to improve the experience of children and their families

In 2022, the CHV attended to 8,250 children’s visits to the external consultation areas and around 1,000 boys and girls were admitted to the Vic Hospital, according to Meritxell Torrabías, head of the Paediatrics service. With the new solidarity campaign, the CHV wants to ensure that the experience of children and adolescents is more pleasant, that families have a comfortable environment and that the emotional well-being of patients and companions is encouraged.

“Taking care of the psychosocial aspect of hospitalized children helps their recovery,” adds Torrabías. In this sense, Sara Manjón, manager of the CHV, details that the funds obtained will be allocated to the well-being of the children in the health center “so that they have more welcoming and warmer spaces”.

Some of the improvements proposed by the center are the adaptation of new playrooms for children, the creation of material that makes it easier for children to understand their illness and treatments or the development of tools to make the ‘entrance of minors to the operating room.

How to buy the charity monkey?

Lluc Crusellas highlights the “good work” of the CHV taking care of people and, with the solidarity monkey, together with PaVic collaborate with the health center. “Chocolate is to the taste of almost all children and the happiness it generates helps them in difficult times that unfortunately some have to live in hospital,” says the master chocolatier.

The mona de l’Orellut is made of milk chocolate, except for the base, of dark chocolate, and will carry the traditional Easter egg. As of Monday, March 11, it will be available for physical purchase in the Eukarya, Gurbí and El Carme stores, while in the rest of PaVic’s establishments it can be purchased by prior reservation.
