The CUP’s call for the May 12 elections

The CUP has called for votes in the next elections to guarantee social policies in matters such as health, education and housing. The head of the list of the anti-capitalists, Laia Estrada, has stated that while the offices of the big companies claim that there are no elections and that they must resign, they defend that there are elections and that they do not plan to resign. In statements to the media, the candidate has defended that Parliament is more empty of sovereignty than ever and has regretted that the Catalan chamber is continuously subject to the impositions of the PSOE. According to Estrada, voting for the CUP is an alternative to end this subordination.

The proposals of the CUP

The head of the list has highlighted the importance of defending quality public health, guaranteeing quality public education and in Catalan, as well as promoting ecological transformation. He has also proposed the public distribution of food to protect the small and medium-sized peasantry from abuse, as well as the implementation of a universal basic income that comes from a small part of the great fortunes. Estrada has also stressed the need for a new Catalan economy that is at the service of the entire population and has criticized those who have become rich at the expense of making the territory precarious and fragmented.

Claims of the CUP

The anti-capitalist candidate has also claimed feminism, anti-fascism and anti-racism as fundamental values.
