A Special Week for Brain Knowledge
The National Hospital for Paraplegics commemorates half a century of commitment to research and scientific dissemination by opening the doors of its laboratories during Brain Week, which will take place from March 11 to 17. This event, in collaboration with the Spanish Society of Neuroscience (SENC), the European Society of Neuroscience (FENS) and the Dana Foundation, seeks to promote knowledge about the brain and neuroscience among young people.
Student Participation
During this special week, around one hundred students from five Toledo institutes will have the opportunity to visit the National Hospital for Paraplegics. Young people, accompanied by their teachers, will be able to enjoy an introductory talk followed by a tour of the center’s research laboratories. This experience will allow them to learn more about the scientific work carried out at the hospital, with the aim of awakening their interest in neuroscience as a possible professional career.
Scientific Dissemination and Promotion of Brain Health
The Dissemination Group of the National Hospital for Paraplegics has been bringing scientific research closer to students and the general public for thirteen years, promoting healthy behaviors for brain care. In addition, a poster has been designed for social networks, created by Dr. Natalia Díez Revuelta, a researcher and illustrator at the hospital, which will be disseminated on buses and social networks with the hashtag #SemanadelCerebro20224.
Brain Care Tips
As part of the activities, a video has been produced in collaboration with the center’s Communication Unit, based on the aforementioned poster. This video offers six tips for brain care, including maintaining a healthy diet, exercising regularly, getting enough sleep, learning new things, maintaining an active social life, managing stress, and avoiding toxic substances.
