The Alhora party gets the necessary signatures
The Alhora party, led by Clara Ponsatí and Jordi Graupera, has obtained the necessary signatures to stand in the elections in Catalonia on May 12. This new party has collected the required signatures for the four constituencies required for extra-parliamentary parties. This means that the Alhora party ballot will be available at all electoral colleges in Catalonia.
Clara Ponsatí has expressed her satisfaction with the result, stating that the Alhora party is already a reality after only a week of announcing its existence. He highlighted the heroic efforts of the volunteers in the four demarcations to achieve this milestone. According to Ponsatí, this opportunity has allowed the party to talk to thousands of people and understand the reasons for the disappointment towards the traditional parties.
Exceeding required signatures
To be able to stand in the elections, the Alhora party needed the endorsement of 0.1% of voters in each constituency. This was equivalent to a total of 5,703 signatures, which were divided into the different demarcations. According to the party, they exceeded by more than 20% the signatures required by the electoral board, two days before the deadline for collection ended.
The road to the elections
Clara Ponsatí celebrated this milestone and highlighted the speed with which they managed to launch this political project. During these days, they have received feedback from people on the street, both those who are disappointed with the current policy and those who respect Alhora’s proposal, even though they will not vote for them. Ponsatí thanked the volunteers for their great work and highlighted the difficulty of reaching this milestone in such a short time and without institutional support or party funding.
An independence option
At the same time, it has positioned itself as a pro-independence option that seeks better political leadership than Catalonia has had in the last 6 years. According to Ponsatí, the traditional parties have given up on independence and new faces are needed in Parliament. Although the head of Alhora’s list has not yet been announced, Ponsatí has shown herself ready to take on this responsibility. He has criticized Junts per Catalunya, stating that they do not know how to achieve independence, and has highlighted the need for a political leadership that is committed to this goal.
The Alhora project
The Alhora project was presented two weeks ago by Clara Ponsatí and Jordi Graupera. Their goals are to replace the parties that have given up on independence and offer another option to citizens tired of voting with a clamp on their nose. Next April 23, this new party will present the master lines of its list at the Teatre Borràs in Barcelona.
In short, the Alhora party has obtained the necessary signatures to stand in the elections in Catalonia. This new pro-independence party is looking for better political leadership and wants to replace the traditional parties that have given up on independence. The Alhora project has received significant support and exceeded expectations in terms of required signatures. Now, the party is preparing to face the May 12 elections.
