A project to revitalize the space
Falset City Council has launched a double project to revitalize the old Falbar textile factory and turn it into a space dedicated to the world of wine. The first project consists of enabling the annexed building as a wine and Priorat museum tourism centre. This space, which is expected to be completed in 2025, will offer visitors an immersive experience in the winemaking history of the region. In addition, the creation of tasting and information rooms is planned, as well as the use of virtual reality technologies to explain the landscape and wine culture of the area.
The headquarters of Vitec, technological center of wine
The second project is to bring the headquarters of Vitec, the technological center of wine, to the old Falbar factory. This center will be a benchmark in research, innovation and training in the wine sector in southern Europe. Both the Generalitat, the State and the Provincial Council of Tarragona have already committed to collaborate with this long-term project, which will require an investment of around 10 million euros. The aim is to turn the old factory into a winemaking ‘hub’ that expands the services and facilities for the sector, generating new jobs and promoting the development of the region.
A unique project with local and national impact
This project is considered unique and an opportunity for the county of Falset and for the country in general. The arrival of Vitec and the transformation of the old Falbar factory into a research and innovation center in the wine sector will have a positive impact on the local economy, generating more jobs and boosting wine tourism. In addition, this project will contribute to stopping the depopulation of the region and to consolidating the future of the wine sector and wine tourism in the area.
