The PP criticizes Pedro Sánchez’s decision to continue leading the Government

Popular Party spokesman Miguel Tellado accuses Sánchez of ‘simulating resignation’

The spokesman for the Popular Party in Congress, Miguel Tellado, has described Pedro Sánchez’s resignation as a ‘simulation of resignation’. Tellado maintains that the socialist leader’s decision to continue leading the Government shows that ‘he has no limits’ and accuses him of trying to ‘control’ the media, the opposition and justice, such as the General Council of the Judiciary ( CGPJ). Furthermore, he has stated that Sánchez has become ‘bolivarianized’ and wants the opposition to ‘keep silent as if this were Venezuela.’

The PP demands explanations about cases of corruption and the renewal of the CGPJ

Tellado has made it clear that the PP will continue to demand explanations about ‘a case of corruption that, if true, is tremendously serious’, in reference to the Koldo case. He has also warned that Sánchez must give up letting the opposition remain silent as if this were Venezuela. The popular leader has criticized Sánchez and has stated that they have witnessed ‘for five days a farce’ and ‘a shameful spectacle’ that puts the president of the government in a ‘frankly regrettable’ situation and shows that ‘he has no limits’.

The PP defends respect for the media and the independence of justice

Tellado has highlighted the importance of respecting the work of the media and has criticized Sánchez for attacking certain media that publish critical information about his management, his government or his personal environment. According to him, this attitude is irresponsible in a mature democracy. Regarding justice, Tellado has stated that he is independent in Spain and that all citizens are equal before the law, including Sánchez’s wife.

The PP proposes the renewal of the CGPJ and denounces a colonization strategy

In relation to the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ), Tellado has assured that the PP has proposed to the PSOE a sincere and precise solution to renew the Council and advance in the depoliticization of the justice management bodies. However, according to Tellado, the PSOE has not accepted this proposal because it does not want to renew the CGPJ, but rather control it. He has also denounced what has happened in institutions such as the CIS, the EFE Agency or RTVE, where, according to him, there has been a colonization strategy by the Socialist Party.

The PP insists on asking Pedro Sánchez for explanations

Regarding the possibility of agreeing on an ethical code to regulate the role of the president’s wife and family members, Tellado has pointed out that this is perfectly regulated in current legislation. He has reiterated that the PP will continue to demand explanations from Pedro Sánchez.
