The Secret Strategy of Catalonia: A Powerful Weapon for the Elections

Puigdemont’s Call to Arms

The exiled leader and candidate of Junts+, Carles Puigdemont, has called on the Catalan masses in a massive rally at the Espai Jean Carrère in Argelers, in Northern Catalonia. There, he has launched an urgent appeal for Catalans to use the “secret weapon” that they have kept for big occasions.

Before an audience of 3,000 people, according to the organization, who packed the premises and outside the pavilion, Puigdemont joked about a new persecution for terrorism and asked that in the parliamentary elections on May 12 “we blow up the ballot boxes even though accuse us of being terrorists.

The candidate has emphasized that May 12 is a crucial opportunity for the future of Catalonia and has urged citizens to “dust off” their secret weapon and use it. He has assured that when this weapon “starts up, there is no force that can stop it.”

Doubt: An Obstacle to Overcome

Despite recognizing that “we are still not enough,” Puigdemont has stressed that it is better to vote with doubts than to risk a Catalonia governed by those who “would stop playing the pear.” He has asked the Catalans to help dust off the best tool they have, even if that means being accused of terrorism.

Two Alternatives: The PSC and Junts+

Puigdemont has presented the Catalans with two electoral alternatives: the PSC, which according to him “will only be able to govern Catalonia hand in hand with those who have sunk Barcelona”, and Junts+, which represents “the people who want to raise Catalonia and prepare it for the future” .

He has made it clear that Junts+ will not agree with those who have allied themselves with Vox and the PP, and that their attitude will always be to defend the interests of Catalonia and stand up to Madrid.

Turull: Referendum or Completion of Work

The general secretary of Junts+, Jordi Turull, has criticized the PSC’s maneuvers during the campaign, accusing them of constantly changing their speech. He has highlighted that the socialists have gone from a “gray” campaign to a radical turn after the closure of Pedro Sánchez in Moncloa.

Turull has invited the PSOE to accept an agreed referendum, stating that “if this is about defending democracy, we Catalans are playing at home.” He recalled the historical fight of the Catalans for their rights and assured that they are willing to “finish the job” if an agreement is not reached.

The PSOE: A Danger to Democracy

Turull has denounced that the PSOE has proven to be “a danger to democracy” by collaborating with the “paper-mache democracy” and by resorting to insults and “state bludgeoning.” He recalled the participation of the PSC in the Societat Civil Catalana demonstrations and its slogans against the independentists, as well as the presence of Illa in those protests.

The leader of Junts+ has assured that if the Catalans mobilize, they will win. He has compared the strength of the people to that of a million ants that can knock down an elephant, and has concluded that on May 12 “we will take that elephant called the Spanish State.”
