The situation in Parliament and the negotiations for the investiture in Catalonia

The first ordinary session of the Parliament

This Wednesday, the Parliament holds its first ordinary session with a single item on the agenda: to give an account of the resolution of the presidency of the chamber with which Josep Rull notes the “impossibility” of having been able to propose a candidate to head the Generalitat de Catalunya during the first 10 working days after constituting the new legislature in the Parliament. Both the PSC and Junts per Catalunya asked for more time to be able to go to a plenum with guaranteed support. The socialists want to articulate a progressive majority with the Republican Left and the Commons to make Salvador Illa the 133rd president of the Generalitat; while Junts trusts the election of Carles Puigdemont to the votes of the Republicans, the CUP and an abstention from the PSC.

Salvador Illa’s preparation for the investiture

Salvador Illa, known for his love of athletics, has shown discipline, method and perseverance in this sport. These qualities can be extrapolated to his preparation for the investiture as president of the Generalitat. With his experience as a long-distance runner, Illa is ready to face the challenges presented to him during this stage.

Negotiations with the Republican Left and the Commons

The negotiations between the PSC and Esquerra Republicana focus on issues such as the financing of Catalonia, the Catalan language, public services and other relevant issues. On the other hand, the Commons are also negotiating with the PSC and emphasize the importance of solving the housing crisis in Catalonia and reversing the weakening of public services.

The alliance with the Commons

The Commons affirm that they are focused on the contents of the negotiations and emphasize the importance of a progressive agreement. The main condition of the Commons will be to solve the housing crisis in Catalonia and reverse the weakening of public services.

The road to the investiture

Salvador Illa faces a complex path to the investiture, where he will have to overcome several obstacles. His preparation and determination as a fund runner may be key to obtaining the majority that will take him to the presidency of the Generalitat.
