Together for Catalonia denounces the lack of investment in Catalonia
The Junts per Catalunya political party has expressed its concern for what it considers a lack of adequate investments in Catalonia. During the control session at the Congress of Deputies, the joint spokeswoman, Míriam Nogueras, criticized the Spanish government for not allocating the necessary resources and investments to Catalonia, stating that Catalans pay more taxes than they receive in return. Nogueras has stressed that, since the arrival of the PSOE in government, Catalans have only been paid a small part of what corresponds to them. In addition, he emphasized that while Junts per Catalunya claims with objective data what they consider fair for the citizens of Catalonia, the Spanish government does not fulfill its promises.
Specific data on the lack of investments in Catalonia
During her intervention, Míriam Nogueras presented several figures which, according to her point of view, demonstrate the lack of investments in Catalonia. He pointed out that the execution of the general budgets of the State means a flight of money from the Catalans, since, according to his words, the Spanish government promises to pay a certain amount, but in practice only pays a fraction of it amount In addition, he highlighted the disparity in investments between Barcelona and Madrid, stating that proportionally fewer resources are allocated to Catalonia. It has also highlighted the lack of support for Catalan museums compared to those in Madrid, where a significantly higher amount has been invested.
Response from the Spanish government
In response to Junts per Catalunya’s criticism, the Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, has assured that the Spanish government guarantees public services throughout Spain, including Catalonia. He emphasized that large amounts of resources have been allocated to Catalonia, including the increase in average pensions, the creation of new jobs and investments in infrastructure. Montero stressed that the Spanish government does not just make promises, but demonstrates its commitment to Catalonia through concrete actions.
Recognition of the low state budget execution in Catalonia
Junts per Catalunya’s criticisms have also been supported by pronouncements from the PSOE and the PSC, which have admitted the State’s low budget execution in Catalonia. Both the president of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez, and the first secretary of the PSC, Salvador Illa, have recognized the situation and expressed their desire to improve it in the future.
