Hans-Dieter Flick and the Changes in the Barça Squad

Flick Communicates Squad Changes

Hans-Dieter Flick has had personal conversations with several members of the Barça team. While some have received backing for next season, such as Frenkie de Jong, others have been informed of the need to look for a new club. Among the latter is Sergiño Dest.

Destined for a New Course

Despite his outstanding performance at PSV Eindhoven, Sergiño Dest will not fit into ‘Hansi’s’ plans for Barça. The coach seeks to take advantage of his revaluation to find a buyer willing to pay the price requested by the club.

A History of Ups and Downs

Despite having been a starter with Ronald Koeman, the arrival of Xavi Hernández relegated him to the background. After a brief spell at AC Milan, his return to the Eredivisie has shown his potential, but Flick has reconsidered his position.

Although he initially requested his signing when he was managing Bayern Munich, Flick now does not consider Dest to raise the level of the team. Barça will seek to negotiate offers for him to recover part of the investment made.

Challenges on the way out

Dest’s injury, which will keep him off the field for months, will make it difficult for him to leave the club. Despite his good season, few teams might be willing to take the risk, which represents a challenge for Flick and Laporta.
